Please join me July 27th for a unique opportunity to add your voice to decisions being made about California’s child care system

Dear Child Care Provider,

Did you know that the top leader in the California Assembly right now—Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon—ran for office for one main reason: to improve child care?

And now he’s in a top TOP leadership position with a real vision for improving things.

Speaker Rendon used to be Executive Director of Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, Inc. Like us, he saw firsthand how devastating the state’s child care budget cuts during the Great Recession were to children and families—and those of us doing this important work! So he went to Sacramento to make a difference.

This provides us with an amazing opportunity to have an influence on California’s child care system.

Why?

He has formed the new California Assembly Blue Ribbon Commission on Early Childhood Education to take a closer look what California needs to do to improve its child care system.

I was honored to be selected to serve on this commission to represent those of us actually providing child care. (Read more about my role here.) We will have our first Southern California public hearing on the 27th and I want all my SEIU Local 99 sisters and brothers who are child care professionals to join me and speak out on the things that matter to us!

Let’s make sure this commission is aligned with the things we’re fighting for, such as:

  • more investment in child care so that more families can have access and more of us can support our families
  • inceased access to important training
  • a voice for providers when decisions are being made about our industry
P.S.»»  I want to make sure you know about a great *FREE* online seminar for providers offered by the L.A. County Department of Mental Health Services on Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood—register today! Choose one of these three upcoming online seminars:

Let’s speak out for providers and the children and families we serve!
