Max Arias on LAUSD’s Classified Employee Week Resolution

“Cafeteria workers, bus drivers, custodians, special education assistants and other dedicated classified employees at LAUSD are at the heart of education in our schools. Every school day, they safely transport students to and from school, serve them meals so they don’t go to class hungry, keep schools clean and well-maintained, train and engage parents, and staff tutoring and after school programs for thousands of students.

“We are proud that LAUSD is recognizing the important contributions of these every day heroes. It truly takes a team to help our children learn, and classified employees are essential to creating the safe, healthy and supportive environment that helps students succeed. As SEIU Local 99 classified employees move forward with contract negotiations with the District, it is our hope that we can continue to work together to improve these services and supports for students and parents.”
