Are you a Teacher Assistant at LAUSD hired after 1991?

Remember that all Teacher Assistants hired after January 28, 1991 are Degree-Track T.A.s and must maintain an annual twelve-unit minimum during the school year as a condition of employment. The units must be toward a B.A. and teaching credential or post-graduate work toward a teaching credential. According to Article VIII, Section 2.2 in our contract, a grace period of one semester is allowed once for Degree Track T.A.s who fall short of the annual unit requirements. If you are a Degree Track T.A. hired after January 28, 1991 and you have not maintained the educational requirements, there are still opportunities for employment with LAUSD. The District has informed us that there is a shortage of substitute Special Ed Trainees. There are also openings for three-hour per day Early Education Center Aides and Campus Aides.
