LAUSD Superintendent Deasy to “walk in our shoes” working a cafeteria Shift

As the new school year kicks-off, LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy will put on a hairnet and apron to see firsthand what it’s like working in an LAUSD school cafeteria and how cafeteria workers play an essential role in student learning. He will work the actual morning shift with SEIU Local 99 Member Maria Castillo on Wednesday, August 14 as she prepares to help feed hundreds of students at Esteban Torres High School in East Los Angeles.

SEIU Local 99 members have invited Superintendent Deasy to “walk in our shoes” to highlight how our work supports students both inside and outside the classroom and to stress the need to secure funding for quality student services.
