Alex Johnson for LAUSD School Board: Election Day is Tues. August 12

AlexJohnsonPostElection Day is Tuesday, August 12

School Board members decide on budgets that impact our jobs and work hours. They also vote on our contract and set policies that affect our work. Let’s make sure we elect someone who values the work of classified employees in our schools. Let’s elect Alex Johnson for LAUSD School Board.

Alex Johnson shares our values.  He understands that dedicated school workers provide important services that help our children learn. He also knows we need good jobs to support our families. That’s why he supported the $15 living wage proposal and other raises and job protections in the union contract Local 99 members recently ratified with LAUSD. In fact, he’s the only candidate who signed the pledge in support of raising the minimum wage at LAUSD to $15/hour. Click Here to read our Press Statement about our endorsement.

“The quality of our schools depends on the people who have devoted their careers to serving our children…Think about a typical day in the life of a school child. They’re picked up by a school bus driver; greeted by a clerical worker; fed by cafeteria workers; kept safe by security officers; cared for by health aides; taught with the help of classroom assistants; and they spend the day at a campus kept up by janitors and maintenance workers.” — Alex Johnson
