Dear SEIU Local 99 Members,
I am proud to announce that our Executive Board has selected Courtni Pugh as our union’s new Executive Director. Courtni brings great energy, a strategic mind, and proven experience in political and community organizing to our Local. But, most importantly, she brings a deep commitment to improving the lives of working people.
I have had the privilege of working closely with her over the past year and I have seen the great passion – and ability – she has for making politics work for working people. I believe she is just what our union needs to not only help steer us through these difficult times, but also to build a stronger union for ourselves, our families, and for the children and students we work with every day. The Executive Board and I will work closely with Courtni as we keep the needs of our membership – and the growth of our union – at the forefront of our work.
Courtni begins her tenure today after serving as the Special Assistant to our former Executive Director, Bill A. Lloyd. We thank Bill for his nine years of service to our Local. We wish him well as he moves on as a Senior Advisor to SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry.
