Classified Employees Week!

In 1986, the California Legislature passed a resolution declaring the third week of May, Classified Employees Week in recognition of the contributions that teacher’s aides, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, custodians, office workers, and others make to our schools and to student learning. This year, classified employees week was celebrated from May 20-26. On May 12, elected officials including California Senator Kevin De Leon, Los Angeles Unified School Board President Monica Garcia, Hacienda La Puente Unified Board President Dr. Joseph Chang, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School Board Members Ben Allen and Ralph Mechur, and  Los Angeles Community College Board Trustees Steve Veres and Scott Svonkin helped jump start festivities in appreciation of classified employees by serving lunch to nearly 200 Local 99 members who attended our General Membership Meeting. The special lunch was presented by Local 99’s Communications Committee. These are difficult times and we thank you for your continued commitment to students, to quality services, and to our schools. Classified Employees … you truly make it happen!  Click here to view photos from the Classified Employee Recognition Lunch.
