A state budget deal was reached between Governor Brown and legislative leaders on June 16. Through the hard work of union members who have fought to make their voices heard on this issue, the budget includes increased rates and slots to ensure more working families have access to quality child care. It’s a good first step but reforms are still needed and we’re urging legislators to pass and Governor Brown to sign SB 548 which will address the crisis in our child care system through training and collective bargaining for child care workers.
