My name is _______________ and my child attends ____[name of day care]____ in ___[city]___.
I am strongly in favor of SB 548, the Raising Child Care Quality and Accessibility Act.
I ask the Assembly Member to add his/her voice in support of the efforts to strengthen California’s crumbling child care system.
Children need a place where they can learn and get ready for kindergarten; a place where they get exercise and nutritious meals. Many parents like me have difficulty finding a safe, affordable place we can trust to leave our kids while we are at work.
For example [quick sentence of your own problems with California’s child care system – I have lost access to my subsidy before, sometimes the agency has given very unclear guidelines, my child care provider had to shut her business, etc etc]
I know that nearly 30% of California’s child care providers—most of them women—have closed their doors since 2006. And I know that California can do better to stabilize things for them and families like mine.
If ___[name of your child care provider]___ was forced to close her doors, I don’t know what I would do. [quick sentence about what that would mean for you – what your options with me
SB 548 will:
- Extend collective bargaining rights to family child care providers to advocate for improvements to child care quality and access.
- Expand training opportunities for providers and identify opportunities to make best use of federal, state and private funding available for training.
- Authorize a study of best practices for supporting working parents like me who want to be more involved in our child’s early development.
That’s why nearly 100 organizations like…
- Mi Familia Vota
- Brotherhood Crusade
- United Way of Greater Los Angeles
- California State Conference of the NAACP and the NAACP, Los Angeles
- Children’s Defense Fund, California
- Community Coalition
- National Organization for Women
- Planned Parenthood of California
- Western Center on Law & Poverty
…support SB 548.
Can we also count on Assembly Member __[name]__ to support SB548?
Did you make these calls?
