Take our quick education survey! |
Some of us have seen education requirements for our jobs increase. And while we like the idea of getting more training, classes are expensive and often don’t fit with our schedules. And when we stop and think about how underpaid our work is, it’s hard not to wonder, “Is it wise to accumulate student debt for a career in early education?”
That’s why early educators who belong to SEIU are coming together to make sure that we can reach our education goals with classes that fit our schedules and without getting buried in debt. With more education, we will push for clear opportunities for advancement and higher pay. For those of us who already have a college degree (and the student loan bills to show for it!), we are also looking at ways to reduce our student debt.
Early educators are also joining with their working parents and others struggling to make ends meet. We have begun to fight for things like a $15 minimum wage. We also want increased investment in early education, to make sure all kids have quality, affordable early learning and that early ed jobs are good jobs.
We have a few questions to help guide our planning, and we will need your involvement to help early educators and families across the country win the funding for quality early ed!
