It’s time to elect leaders on the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles Community College District Boards who will continue to restore services and good jobs. Help get out the vote for this important election!
Because we elected candidates who support working families, we’ve won:
- Proposition 30 which ended furlough days, ended other devastating budget cuts to education and brought money for wage increases in our contracts, including a historic $15 per hour minimum wage at LAUSD.
- Expanded student programs such as Breakfast in the Classroom and the Supper Program at LAUSD that support student learning and increase jobs and work hours.
These are the only candidates on your ballot endorsed by SEIU Local 99 and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.
Los Angeles Unified School DistrictBe sure to look for one of these candidates on your ballot. |
Tamar Galatzan, Bennett Kayser, and Dr. Richard Vladovic have already proven that they value our dedication, hard work and the services we provide. Thanks to their leadership, LAUSD has:
- Improved graduation rates.
- Raised the minimum wage to $15.
- Helped make schools safe havens by providing support services for children and families.
- Committed to our career advancement.
- Improved student services and jobs.

Tamar Galatzan is a champion for employees who want to become teachers. She co-sponsored the recent resolution to expand the Career Ladder program. She is also the only mother of LAUSD students on the Board. | Bennett Kayser knows how important early education is for children’s future success in school. That’s why he helped broker a deal to fund the District’s early education programs by an additional $25 million over the next three years. | Dr. Vladovic supported the expansion of health benefits for food service workers. He is a strong advocate for children with autism. He has also been a leading advocate for drop-out prevention and mentorship programs |
Los Angeles Community College DistrictVote for all four candidates on your ballot. |
Francesca Vega, Seat 1 |
Sydney Kamlager, Seat 3 |
![]() For Seat 1 Francesca Vega worked on the successful 2012 Proposition 30 campaign which finally stopped the cuts to our community colleges. As one of the first in her family with a college degree, she understands how important it is to keep higher education affordable for first generation students and students from underserved communities. |
![]() For Seat 3 Sydney Kamlager would make maintenance of our new buildings a priority. She believes that only with full course offerings and affordable fees can California fulfill its promise to young people. Kamlager would work to hire more faculty to ensure that there are enough classes offered to ensure students can reach their goals. |
Scott Svonkin, Seat 5 |
Mike Fong, Seat 7 |
![]() For Seat 5 Scott Svonkin supported SEIU Local 99’s new LACCD labor contract, which included fair wages after years of budget cuts and increased opportunities for career advancement. Svonkin was first elected to reform the bidding and construction policies of LACCD. He pushed for a policy that provided greater oversight to the use of bond funds. |
![]() For Seat 7 Mike Fong will make increased student success his top priority. This means improving the quality and access to educational opportunities, expanding workforce education and high growth sector training programs, and creating jobs. |
