Voting for SEIU Local 99 Officers and Executive Board Delegates will be conducted by mail and administered by a neutral third party, American Arbitration Association (AAA). Ballots will be mailed to all members in good standing on April 24, 2015. Ballots are due and will be counted on May 22, 2015.
REPLACEMENT BALLOTS
If you are a member in good standing of SEIU Local 99, and you do not receive a ballot in the mail by Friday, May 1, 2015 (or if you need a replacement ballot for any other reason), you may request a replacement ballot either by:
1. E-mail to ballot@seiu99.org with your name, employer, and correct personal mailing address; OR
2. Call 213-637-3315 and leave a message with your name, employer, and correct personal mailing address (please be sure to speak clearly in your voice mail message).
Replacement ballots must be requested no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
UPDATE! BALLOT COUNT
Candidates, candidate-designated observers, and interested members may observe the ballot count on Friday, May 22, 2015. Ballots will be picked up at 9:00am on May 22 by AAA at the Foy Station Post Office, 1808 W. 7th St., Los Angeles, and securely transported to the AAA Los Angeles office. Counting of the ballots is expected to begin at the AAA office at approximately 9:30am on May 22. The AAA office is located at 725 S. Figueroa, Suite 400, Los Angeles.

Notification of Nomination Procedures
SEIU Local 99 will be holding elections for the Office of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Executive Board Delegates in 2015.
Constitution & Bylaws Article 6 – Executive Board, Section 1.B Industry Division Executive Board Delegates
In accordance with our union’s Constitution and Bylaws, the following nomination procedures will be observed:
Prior to February 1, 2015 – The Executive Board shall appoint an Elections Committee consisting of a Chairperson and at least five (5) additional members. There shall be at least one member from each Industry Division on the Elections Committee. No member may serve on the Elections Committee if s/he is a candidate for office. If a neutral third party administrator is not engaged, the Elections Committee shall determine all questions of candidate eligibility, be in charge of the election process and the counting of ballots, the certification of results and decide any election protests. February 4, 2015 – Beginning on February 4st, nominating petitions will be available between 8am and 5pm at all three SEIU Local 99 offices: 2724 W. 8th St., Los Angeles, CA 90005; 3651 E. Imperial Highway, Lynwood, CA 90262; and, 8363 Reseda Blvd., Suite6, Northridge, CA 91324.

February 21, 2015 – a Candidate Initiation Meeting shall be held during the Industry Division Meetings at Los Angeles Trade – Technical College, 400 West Washington Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90015, from 10 am until 12 pm for the purpose of picking-up nomination petitions and gathering signatures.

Qualifications for Nominations and Nominating a Candidate
Any member wishing to be a candidate for the Office of President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer must submit to the Chairperson of the elections Committee, at the main SEIU Local 99 office, a nominating petition signed by 100 members in good standing.

Any member wishing to be a candidate for the Office of Industry Division Delegate may be nominated by submitting to the Chairperson of the Elections Committee, at the main SEIU Local 99 office, a nominating petition signed by 25 members in good standing within the nominee’s Industry Division.

Any member who wishes to be a candidate for the Office of Retiree Delegate may be nominated by submitting to the Chairperson of the Elections Committee, at the main SEIU Local 99 office, a nominating petition signed by 10 members in good standing within the retiree division.

In order to be eligible to nominate a candidate for a Local Union Office and/or Executive Board Delegate, you must be a member who is not in arrears in the payment of any installment of dues or assessments more than one hundred and twenty (120) days after their due date.

Certification of Candidates:
The Election Committee will make a determination of the eligibility of all potential candidates. Petitions submitted prior to March 4, 2015 will be subject to an initial verification of sufficient member signatures to support the nomination. Petitioners who submit petitions prior to March 4, 2015 who have an inadequate number of signatures to support their nomination shall be notified of such deficiency by e-mail and telephone within two business days of their initial petition submission, and shall be given the opportunity to submit additional petition signatures by March 6, 2015.

Notice of Petitioners
During the petitioning period (February 4, 2015 – March 6, 2015), the names of members who have picked-up petitions, indicating the office and/or delegate position, shall be posted on the SEIU Local 99 website, which shall be updated weekly every Friday before noon.
Candidates shall be permitted to request to have campaign literature mailed to the most current home addresses of SEIU Local 99 members. Candidates will be responsible for the full cost of such mailing(s), which will be conducted by an independent third party.
Eligibility to be Nominated and Serve
A person shall be eligible to be nominated and to serve as an elected Local Union Officer or Division Executive Board Delegate who has been a member in continuous good standing in the Local Union for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the nomination and who has during all of that time paid the full dues required for the working members of the Local union within each month when due. However, if any of its bargaining units or Industry Divisions has not been in existence the time herein required, a candidate for office must have been a member in continuous good standing for the entire time since affiliation, creation of new Industry Division or first contract.

Mailing Request
Per the Official Nomination Procedures, “Candidates shall be permitted to request to have campaign literature mailed to the most current home addresses of SEIU Local 99 members. Candidates will be responsible for the full cost of such mailing(s), which will be conducted by an independent third party.” To make such a request, candidates must complete and submit a written request on forms available in all three SEIU Local Offices or CLICK HERE. Upon such a written request, mailing lists will be forwarded electronically to West Coast Mailers, a union vendor who will deal directly with candidates for election campaign mailings. La votación para los Oficiales y Delegados de la Mesa Ejecutiva de SEIU Local 99 se llevará a cabo por correo y será administrada por una tercera parte neutral, American Arbitration Association (AAA). Las boletas se enviarán por correo a todo miembro acreditado el 24 de abril del 2015. Las boletas se deben regresar para el 22 de mayo del 2015 y se contarán este mismo día.

ACTUALIZACION! CONTEO DE BOLETAS
Candidatos, observadores designados por los candidatos, y miembros interesados podrán observar el conteo de boletas el Viernes, 22 de mayo del 2015. AAA recogerá las boletas a las 9:00am el 22 de mayo de la Oficina de Correos “Foy Station,” 1808 W. 7th St., Los Angeles, y serán trasladadas de forma segura a la oficina de AAA en Los Angeles. De acuerdo a la Constitución y Reglamentos de nuestra unión, los siguientes procedimientos de nominación serán observados:
Antes del 1 de febrero del 2015 –La Mesa Ejecutiva designará un Comité de Elecciones consistiendo de un Presidente y al mínimo cinco (5) miembros adicionales. Deberá haber cuando menos un miembro de cada una de las Divisiones por Industria en el Comité de Elecciones. Ningún miembro deberá fungir en el Comité Electoral si él/ella es candidato para un cargo. Si un tercer partido administrador neutral no es contratado, el Comité de Elecciones determinará todas las dudas sobre la elegibilidad de candidatos y estará a cargo del proceso de la elección y de contar las boletas, de la certificación de los resultados y de la decisión acerca de cualquiera de las protestas en las elecciones.

El Comité Electoral determinará la elegibilidad de todo posible candidato. Los peticionarios que presenten sus peticiones antes del 4 de marzo del 2015 que no tienen una cantidad suficiente de firmas para apoyar su nominación serán notificados de dicha deficiencia de firmas por correo electrónico y teléfono dentro de dos días hábiles de haber presentado la petición inicialmente, y se les dará la oportunidad de presentar firmas a la petición adicionales para el 6 de marzo del 2015.

Aviso de Peticionarios
Durante el periodo de petición (4 de febrero del 2015 – 6 de marzo del 2015), los nombres de los miembros que han adquirido peticiones, indicando el cargo de oficial y/o delegado, serán publicados en la página de internet de SEIU Local 99, cual será actualizada semanalmente cada viernes antes del mediodía.
Se les permitirá a los candidatos a pedir que se envíe por correo información de su campaña a los domicilios más actualizados de los hogares de miembros de SEIU Local 99. Los candidatos serán responsables por el costo completo de dicha(s) pieza(s) postal(es), que se harán por una tercera parte independiente.
Elegibilidad para ser Nominado y Cumplir el Cargo
Una persona será elegible para ser nominada y fungir en un cargo como Oficial o Delegado de la Mesa Ejecutiva electo cuando haya sido miembro acreditado en la Unión Local cuando menos por un (1) año previo inmediato a la nominación y durante todo ese tiempo haya pagado las cuotas completas requeridas para los miembros trabajadores de la Unión Local de todos los meses que correspondan. Sin embargo, si cualquiera de sus unidades negociadoras o Divisiones Industriales no hubieran existido en algún momento del lapso aquí requerido, el candidato al cargo deberá haber sido miembro acreditado durante la totalidad del tiempo desde su afiliación, la creación de una nueva División Industrial o desde su primer contrato.

Peticion para Enviar Informacion Por Correo
