Helping Thousands of Local 99 Members Realize Their Dream of Becoming Teachers
SEIU Local 99 is working with UTLA and the District to create a new training program to help Local 99 members obtain their teaching credentials and gain employment in the District as teachers.
Components of the program include tuition assistance, support with scheduling, and mentoring.
The goal is to bring together Local 99 members and UTLA teachers to develop a program that addresses the particular needs of teaching in the second largest school district in the country.
It will promote the proven benefits of hiring teachers from the same communities where students live, address teacher shortages in the District, and help more Local 99 members realize their dream of becoming a teacher. More information will be available soon.
