Sad Farewell to SEIU Local 99 Leader LaRonda Davison

LaRonda Davison COLLAGE

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of former SEIU Local 99 Executive Board Member LaRonda Davison. LaRonda lived her life dedicated to children and families, starting as a “Future Teachers of America” student at Locke High School. LaRonda went on to be a Teacher’s Assistant with the Los Angeles Unified School District, then later went on to work as a Family Services Worker with Charles Drew Head Start. While there, LaRonda actively worked to form a union with SEIU Local 99, encouraging her co-workers to unite to make improvements for Head Start workers and the children and families they served.

LaRonda was elected to the SEIU Local 99 Executive Board in 2006 and served for more than six years as a leader of our union. While on the Board, LaRonda also helped lead the struggle to preserve continuity of services and access for families as the Charles Drew Head Start contract transitioned from CDI, Inc. and then to multiple new operators that neglected to retain families or staff. LaRonda was a true champion for co-workers, children and families. She was already missed on our Executive Board. Now she is so greatly missed.
