Members at LAUSD Must Request Off-Cycle Pay Checks

Members who worked the Extended School Year (ESY) Session from June 16 – July 11 are urged to work with their school site administrators to have the District issue an off-cycle check.

The cut-off date for the June 30th pay date was June 19th. Members did not receive projected pay because this is considered Z-Time basis which means that this is not an assigned work period and is considered work time between when the school year ends and the before the new school year begins (see Unit B’s Appendix B Board Rule 1990). As a result, members were only paid for four days-worth of work (June 16 – June 19).

We know this presents a hardship for many members, but be aware that administrators may direct the payroll department to process off-cycle checks. It’s up to employees to request their off-cycle check. Also, take note that the cut-off date for the July 31st pay date will be July 23rd. For the July 31st pay date, members will be paid either from June 20 – July 11 or, if they receive an off-cycle check, from July 1st – July 11th.

Local 99 members should also visit their LAUSD My Pay account to ensure that all of your work hours have been entered and to confirm the number of hours approved by the reporting cut-off date. This will give you a clear idea of how many hours you will get paid for during each Z-time pay period.

If you need help requesting your off-cycle check or if you believe there has been a time reporting error made for the hours you worked, contact SEIU Local 99’s Member Resource Center at 213-637-0296.
