Our current contract with the Los Angeles Unified School District allows us to go back to the bargaining table, before the full contract expires, to negotiate over our wages and two other articles. This is called a “contract re-opener.”
During our “contract re-opener,” we will definitely be bargaining over wage increases. Our Bargaining Team will determine the additional top two priorities for each unit based on our survey responses. Surveys are currently being tabulated. Thank you to everyone who responded.
Our Bargaining Team: Election To Fill Vacancies in Unit B
SEIU Local 99 members who we elected to negotiate our 2011-14 contract will negotiate the contract re-opener. Current bargaining team members are listed below, but we still have several open spots. Nomination petitions have been tabulated and elections will be held to fill vacancies in two Unit B Classifications: Early Education Aide and Special Education-School Based.
Voting will take place in each of our SEIU Local 99 Offices:
Wednesday, Nov. 13 through Friday, November 15 from 8am – 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm.
Saturday, November 16 from 9am – 12pm
FINAL DAY TO VOTE:
Monday, November 18 from 8am-12:30pm and 1:30pm – 6:00 pm
Only members in LAUSD Unit B working in Early Education Aide and Special Education School Based job classifications may vote for candidates in their respective classifications.
Please note that there is no voting on November 12 as previously reported.

Please note that Jorge Osorio was elected to fill the Unit C: Miscellaneous classifications vacancy because he was the only nominated candidate. Remaining vacancies received no eligible nominations.
When will we start contract negotiations?
We expect to begin re-opener contract negotiations in early January, 2014. Later, in the spring of 2014, we will begin negotiations for our full contract. Early next year we will conduct elections for the bargaining team that will negotiate our full contract. Stay tuned!
