SEIU Local 99 issued the following statement by Executive Director Courtni Pugh on the Election of Dr. Richard Vladovic to the LAUSD Board Presidency:
On behalf of the cafeteria workers, custodians, bus drivers, teaching assistants, campus safety aides, and thousands of other SEIU Local 99 members working in the Los Angeles Unified School District, I congratulate Dr. Richard Vladovic on his election as President of the School Board.
As both parents of LAUSD students and employees of the District, we have valued his leadership on the school board. In his decisions, he has demonstrated a true respect for the role that school nutrition, transportation, campus safety, and school cleanliness play in a child’s education. He has also shown an understanding of the role that good jobs play in providing the stability that students need to learn.
We thank Board Member Monica Garcia for her service and her deep commitment to the children and families of Los Angeles. We look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Vladovic to promote educational opportunities for all students and stronger communities that support our children’s success.
