Torrance Unified members overwhelmingly choose to stay united as SEIU Local 99!

The message is clear:
We want to continue to build our union.

June 27, 2013

A significant majority—71%—of Torrance Unified School District members’ votes were “YES!” to remain united as SEIU Local 99 in the election results counted today by the Public Employment Relations Board.

“I feel like members here at Torrance Unified are more united and stronger than we’ve ever been before,” said Maria Bautista after the vote count (Food Service Satellite Operator, Lynn Middle School). “We really stuck together and listened to each other. We stayed positive. I look forward to seeing what we can do together!”

This decision means we will continue to be a part of something BIG: an established union representing more than 45,000 education employees with more than a dozen contracts currently in place. We can continue to build real improvements to our jobs and the services we provide. We are currently negotiating our next three-year contract with the District.
