LAUSD is hiring substitute Food Service Workers

ABOUT THE POSITION
Food Service Worker Subs prepare, produce, heat, cook, and serve a variety of foods which are fresh, canned, dry or frozen. They also perform cleaning and sanitizing duties according to Food Services Operating Standards. Food Service Worker Substitutes work 3 hours a day; 9 months a year.
Some typical duties performed by Food Service Worker Subs include:

  • Preparing and cooking hundreds of meals per day
  • Serving food to and communicating with hundreds of students
  • Operating a variety of kitchen equipment
  • Practicing safe food handling
  • Cleaning and mopping floors
  • Assisting in taking inventory
  • Assisting in preparing sales, production, and other reports

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidates for these positions will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Work rapidly and efficiently in performing job duties
  • Work well with peers, supervisors, school personnel, and students
  • Work in and communicate with large groups and crowds
  • Read recipes and complete forms in English
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene
