It’s not “just politics”…It’s about our schools and jobs!

We saw firsthand the difference we made in November:

  • No more furlough days for LAUSD!
  • Stable budgets instead of cuts!

In the November 2012 election, we won Prop. 30, stopped additional cuts, and rescinded furlough days for thousands of SEIU Local 99 members this school year. We were pitted against billionaires, but we fought back with something more valuable than their money—people power!

And now we’ll continue to stay strong so we can make a difference in the March 5, 2013, primary elections for LAUSD and LACCD Board Members. Let’s work to elect candidates who value the work of classified employees and who will stand up for quality education and good jobs!

Here are the candidates we’ve endorsed and what’s at stake:

Los Angeles Unified School District
Members of the LAUSD School Board will decide on school funding and improvements in our neighborhood schools. They also have a say in our contracts that determine our wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Monica Garcia

Antonio Sanchez

Steve Zimmer

Los Angeles Community College District
Members on the LACCD Board will make budget and staffing decisions that will impact our work and the quality of student services, including decisions on how new buildings will be maintained.
