We’ve all been feeling the impact of the economic crisis and we’ve been working hard to protect jobs and education in these difficult times. Indeed, SEIU Local 99 members contacted legislators to help beat back some of the worst cuts to education in the current state budget. Many of us have also taken furlough days or other cut backs to save good jobs and keep our schools going. But the reality is the crisis is just too big. Even if we keep up our efforts, it is simply not enough. We need to take on the richest 1% who created this crisis. We need to win a fair economy for the 99% of us who work hard for a living and are still struggling.
Join SEIU Local 99’s “Lead. Fight. Unite. Win for the 99%” campaign. We’re hitting the ground running by working to pass Proposition 30, Governor Brown’s Revenue Initiative that will bring more money to education and stop additional cuts. And we’re voting No on Proposition 32 to fight back billionaire businessmen and corporations that want to silence our voice. Election Day is November 6, 2012. It’s going to take a lot of work. And it’s just the beginning of our work to win for the 99% of us who are not super-rich. But if we really want to see a change, all of us have been in it to win it.
