Support Education! Protect Good Jobs!
This November, we can finally bring new revenue to education after years of budget cuts.
Proposition 30 calls on the richest Californians to pay their fair share with a tax increase for those earning $250,000 a year or more. Additionally, it includes a ¼-cent temporary sales tax increase.
This initiative is expected to raise up to $9 billion for public schools and safety. Half of the money will go directly to our school districts that need it so badly.
It will also help balance California’s budget to prevent deeper cuts, not just to schools, but to child care reimbursement rates, early education centers, services to families, and our community colleges.
If it does not pass, education will be cut $5.5 billion and we could see additional cuts starting in January, 2013.
What can we do?
We can talk to our family, friends, and co-workers about voting YES for this sensible plan that saves education from further cuts.
