Vote “YES!” on Prop. 30 to Save Good Jobs and Good Services!

We’re serious about making sure the rich pay at least as much as the rest of us!

To help stop additional cuts to education, California needs more revenue. Governor Brown will ask voters in November to pass Prop. 30, his revenue initiative that will make the super-rich pay their fair share and will include a ¼ cent sales tax (less than we were paying last year). To get it on the ballot, SEIU members collected 98,838 signatures in just 32 days—the most initiative signatures in the shortest amount of time in state history! SEIU Local 99 members alone collected 7,200 signatures.

Prop. 30, The Local Public Safety Protection Act, will raise up to $9 billion. Most of this new revenue is guaranteed to go to education. If the initiative doesn’t pass, education faces an even more dire situation—with up to $5.5 billion more cut in 2012-13. We must continue our efforts leading up to the November 6 election to make sure our family members and friends know that The Local Public Safety Protection Act will help save our schools, support public safety, and protect the good jobs our communities need.
