LAUSD Agrees to No Change of Basis

SEIU Local 99 continues to work with LAUSD to find solutions to the District’s budget gap with minimum impact on Local 99 members’ jobs and student services. As a result of our talks, the District has agreed NOT to change A-Basis employees to E-Basis. This means members on the A-Basis calendar who received a letter from the District this school year indicating that that they would be moving to E-Basis in the 2012-13 school year will see no change in their work schedule. It also means vital student services such as maintenance & operations will not be interrupted. Members who received the basis-change letters will receive rescission notices no later than May 31, 2012.

This is great news in these tough times but we must keep in mind that LAUSD is still facing a nearly $570 million deficit. As discussions with the District continue, be assured that Local 99 is committed to preventing large scale layoffs and protecting school services. Please continue to stay tuned for more updates.
