SEIU CALIFORNIA APPALLED BY TRUMP’S CHARLOTTESVILLE REMARKS
Sacramento, CA—The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California released the following statement from President Laphonza Butler on Trump’s statements about Charlottesville today:
“Trump’s appalling statements today bring shame on the presidency and dishonor the memories of every American who has sacrificed his or her life for our precious ideals of equality and inclusion, including Heather Heyer, who died defending these precious values in Charlottesville on Saturday.
“With every revolting attempt by Trump to normalize violence, white supremacy and division, the resistance to his hateful agenda grows stronger. SEIU members are even more resolved than ever to defy this bigotry and to replace it with a movement for hope, justice, equality, and security. And it becomes more clear with every day that this work is the moral imperative of our time.”
